Illig, Maidens rally past Browning girls

RONAN — Maddy Illig hit a 19-footer to put Ronan ahead 59-58, and Natalie Adams’ two free throws iced the Maidens’ 61-58 win over Browning in Northwest A girls basketball late Saturday.

Nefertiti Stewart led the Maidens with 16 points, including two free throws that cut Browning’s lead to 58-57 with 43 seconds left. The Lady Indians (5-10, 3-6 in league) led 58-54 after Josephine Michael’s basket with 1:25 left, but didn’t get off another shot, committing three straight turnovers. 

Illig’s basket came with 20 seconds left, and Adams, who had 14 points, iced the game with 7 seconds remaining. 

Dally Michael scored 20 points to Browning, seven coming in a third-quarter surge by the hosts. Aizjah Sherwood had 11 points off the bench for Ronan (4-11, 3-6), shooting 5 of 6 from the floor.
