POLSON — Malakai Curley hit six 3-pointers and scored 24 points as Polson defeated Libby 48-45 in Northwest A boys basketball Saturday evening.

Cody Haggard added 12 for the Pirates (7-7 overall, 4-4 in Northwest A games), who held off a late charge from the Loggers in the final minutes.

Tristan Andersen led Libby (2-13, 0-9) with 14 points, while Bransen Holzer tallied 12.

Trailing 47-40, Jonathan Cano knocked down 1 of 3 free throws but Kale Hall cut the Pirate advantage to 47-43 with an offensive rebound and layup.

After Maddox Bird made it 48-43 at the line, Blaise Erickson cut the Logger deficit to three, 48-45, on a mid-range jumper with 13.9 seconds left.

Andersen had a chance to tie it for the Loggers, but was long on his 3-point attempt and the Pirates survived.
