Bigfork High School students attended National History Day at FVCC on Saturday.
National History Day is an academic program for students in grades 6-12. Participating students choose a topic on an annual theme to conduct extensive research on using primary and secondary sources from libraries, archives and museums, for example. This year’s theme is Rights and Responsibilities in History.
In a similar setup to a science fair, students will present the conclusions and evidence of their research through papers, exhibits, performances, documentaries, or websites, to judges and attendees for the chance to advance to the state and national level.
The state competition is scheduled April 12 at Montana State University.
The history fair is hosted by the Conrad Mansion Museum with support from the Montana Historical Society with funding from Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Community Education Grant Program.
