The Bigfork Water and Sewer District is hosting a public meeting Feb. 26 to review plans for the West Trunk Sewer Main Replacement project, which could start construction as early as this spring.

The meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn about the project, understand the impact and provide feedback before construction begins, according to a release from the district.

The meeting takes place at Bigfork United Methodist Church, 750 Electric Ave., on Thursday Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.

The West Trunk Sewer Main Replacement will upsize the 8-inch sewer main that runs on the west side of Bigfork along Eagle Bend.

According to the project overview, the replacement of the aging and undersized sewer main will improve system capacity and reliability. A new pressure sewer main will be installed along Holt Drive, including new pump systems for affected homes. Existing manholes in the Harbor Village and Lake Pointe areas will be improved to reduce inflow, infiltration and maintenance needs.

An aging water main will be replaced adjacent to the new sewer main on Harbor Heights Boulevard, and new standby generators will be installed at Harbor Village #1 and the North Main Lift District Manager Station.

Goals for the project are to increase system reliability, improve water service and fire protection, and reduce the risk of overflows

Anticipated road closures during construction include Harbor Heights Boulevard, from the Wastewater Treatment Plant to Holt Drive. There will be a closure of Holt Drive from Flathead LakBrewing Company to the intersection with Chapman Hill Road. A third closure is planned for Chapman Hill Road from Holt Drive to the north end of the Mill Creek subdivision.

A detailed construction schedule will be finalized after bidding and contractor selection.

Current expectations anticipate construction over two seasons, finishing by fall 2027.
