Charles 'Chuck' James Assels II, 76

Charles “Chuck” James Assels II, 76, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Feb. 3, 2026, at MultiCare Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley, Wash. Chuck was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Great Falls, Mont., a son of the late Charles and Carolanne (Boucher) Assels.
Chuck graduated from Belt Valley High School in Belt, Mont., and married his high school sweetheart, Robin Lynn Noble, on June 17, 1969, in Belt, Mont. Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and then, after his honorable discharge, he and Robin moved to the Silver Valley in 1972. Chuck worked as a miner and electrician at the Hecla and Lucky Friday mines.
Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football, and he was proud to have learned, at a late age, to surf at the Silver Mountain Resort water park.
In addition to his parents, Chuck is preceded in death by his wife, Robin, who passed away in 2020; two brothers, Mike and Steve Assels; and a grandson, Randy James Tarter.
Chuck is survived by his four children, Stacey Assels of Osburn, Idaho, Charles (Jamie) Assels III of Kellogg, Idaho, Michelle Oakes of Kellogg, Idaho, and Cassandra Assels of Post Falls; three grandchildren, Caiden James Assels, Zoey Serrano, and Kirsten Oakes; two great-grandchildren, Jessika Rogers and Roxas Olp; and brother-in-law Mark (Sandy) Noble.
At his request, cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
