Using yet another productive all-around game from Marley Fredette and clutch free throw shooting from Arya Ray down the stretch, the Alberton Lady Panthers won their second game of the season in Noxon Thursday edging the host Lady Devils 29-27.
In other District 14C action last week, coach Cera Strumpfer and her Panthers fell 41-22 to Mineral County foe St. Regis in Alberton Feb. 3.
Named the MHSA Player of the Week earlier this season after leading Alberton past Noxon for the Panthers’ first win of the season, Fredette registered a double double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Alberton past the Lady Devils for a second time this season Thursday.
Adding 10 points to the Panthers’ winning total, Ray converted 80% of her free throw attempts in the game. Breanna Turner added four points and Willa Fredette four steals to Alberton’s winning effort.
Against St. Regis, Ray led the Lady Panthers with nine points, Marley Fredette scored five, Turner four and Anya Porras two.
The Panthers complete regular season play this week, visiting Hot Springs Thursday and hosting Charlo Friday. The District 14C tournament is in Polson beginning Feb. 19.
