Steven Todd Schonewald, 69

Steven “Todd” Schonewald, 69, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away Feb. 4, 2026, at his home in Kellogg. Todd was born June 3, 1956, in Wallace, Idaho, to Tim and JoAnn (Rieken) Schonewald.
Todd worked at the Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan, Idaho, as an underground miner for 39 years before his retirement.
Todd was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting arrowheads and spending time at the lake.
He is survived by his three children, Josh (Wella) McCloud, Jessica (Steve) Grimmett, and Jodi (Chris) Sawyer; 10 grandchildren, Madysen, Baylee, Daisy, Kolton, Lilly, Easton, Kelan, Addie, Becket and JP (aka “Little Stevie); his mother, JoAnn Schonewald; three siblings, Doug, Chris and Blair; and many friends whom he considered family. Todd was predeceased by his father and hero, Tim Schonewald.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, at 2 p.m., at Mountain View Congregational Church in Kellogg, Idaho, with a celebration of his life following at the Country Barn Bed and Breakfast in Cataldo, Idaho.
