Senior Day was celebrated in honor of Columbia Falls High School wrestlers Blaise Cronk, Tanner Williams, Bradley Beck, and Kaden Kaber at their annual Columbia Falls Mixer this past weekend.
“Saturday was one of those bittersweet days for me in the season. Super excited to announce our seniors but also knowing this is the last time they will compete in front of their community is hard to swallow. These four young men have spent a lot of time together over the last four years. Between the bus trips, the overnight trips, tournaments, and time together, a coach hopes they come away with many positive memories, and life lessons from our sport. I will miss them and a shout out to our senior parents and thank you to them for all their support over the years,” said coach Jessie Schaeffer.
“Highlights of the weekend were definitely watching our seniors compete on the mats and Trenton York had a big pin over Lyrik Fainter. We wrestled him the second weekend of the season and it wasn’t much of a match. Lyrik controlled the match from start to finish. Trenton and most of our young kids are learning and buying into basic positions, not forcing techniques, and wrestling through matches not to lose but to compete. It’s been a fun process to watch and see, and to have Trenton dominate this match towards the end of the season, made it feel that much sweeter,” Schaeffer said.
Girls results weren’t available. The boys and girls squads will be in Dillon this weekend for Class A divisionals Friday and Saturday.
