Nonprofits "at the heart of our community" receive trust-based grants

The Greater Polson Community Foundation celebrated the month of love by sending Valentines and Trust-Based Grant funds to locally selected non-profits.
"Trust-based grants go to organizations with which we have worked for years that are at the heart of our community, have earned our trust, and deserve support for general operations," said GPCF Grant Chair Jeanette Phillips.
These grant applications are offered by invitation only from the GPCF Grant Committee and organizations receiving these funds may still apply for the annual IMPACT Grant cycle. The application process and reporting for these unencumbered grant funds is kept simple.
“Our ‘trust’ reflects confidence in an organization’s board, management, and programs,” says Phillips.
At the check presentation and celebration, David King, producer of Flathead Lake International Cinemafest (FLIC), said he was “grateful for the continued trust the foundation has shown in supporting independent films from around the world right here in our community.”
Helping Hands Board President Eleanor Vizcarra added her appreciation as “these trust-based funds come at a time of year that is extremely important for us to maintain our ongoing programs such as the Backpack for Bundles and our postpartum collaboration with the local hospitals.”
According to long-standing committee person Shauna Rubel, "We expect to renew these Trust grants annually for deserving non-profits and as our experience and awareness of needs grows, we hope – with community support – to invite other organizations to apply for these funds, as well as to increase support for project grants."
The following organizations were selected as 2026 Trust Based Grant recipients: North Lake County Library, Boys and Girls Club of Flathead Reservation, FLIC, Polson Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Mission Valley Live, Miracle of America Museum, Helping Hands, Safe Harbor, Women 4 Wellness, Mission Valley Animal Shelter, Sandpiper Art Gallery’s Art 4 Polson, CASA and Mission Valley Aquatics.
According to the GPCF announcement, the organization “appreciates and acknowledges these non-profits’ continued hard work to keep our communities strong. You are the heart of our communities.”
