Safety tips to prevent foodborne illness include cleaning, separating foods, thoroughly cooking and refrigerating food.

Tips are: Clean: Wash hands, utensils and surfaces often. Separate: Keep raw meat, seafood, poultry and eggs separate from other foods when prepping a meal. Cook: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the food reaches a high enough temperature to kill bacteria that cause illness. Chill: Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours. If food is exposed to high temperatures, refrigerate it within 1 hour.
