Feb. 12, 1976 – PINOCHLE TOURNEY ENDS 

Laclede’s ten game pinochle tournament ended Saturday night with eight tables of play at the Wes Moore home. Mrs. Lloyd Stevens and Les Kurrus were the winners. Dolly Kurtz and Blackie Farr won the high prizes; Mrs. Leon Rembowski, ladies traveling; and Patsy Moore and Elmer Walts, low. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Schoeffel will be the hosts at the next party on Saturday, starting another tournament.

STUTZKE WINS HOMEMAKER TITLE 

Bruce Stutzke has been named Clark Fork High School 1975-76 Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow. Bruce won the honor by competing with other seniors in a written knowledge and aptitude examination Dec. 2. He will receive a certificate from General Mills, sponsor of the annual program, and becomes eligible for state and national honors.

MEETINGS 

Mum’s Green Thumb Garden Club will meet Feb. 16 at the home of Bernice Murphy in Clark Fork at 12:30 p.m.  Mrs. Florence Statzel will be co-hostess. 

District No. 10, Idaho Nurses’ Association, will hold its regular meeting Feb.16 in the Bonner General Hospital cafeteria. Dr. Edward P. Gould, general surgeon, will be the guest speaker and his topic will be “The Medical-Surgical Management of Obesity.” All registered nurses are welcome.

Feb. 12, 1951 – RUYLE STUDIED GEMOLOGY 

Arthur Ruyle, watchmaker at Teape’s Jewelry, returned last week from Los Angeles, after a three-week course in gemology at the Gemology Institute of America. A highlight for Ruyle was the tour of a Santa Monica diamond cutting plant where each step is done by experts, many of them European refugees. Before WWII, Amsterdam and Antwerp were the diamond cutting centers of the world.

NEW SCHEDULE FOR HOSPITAL VISITORS 

Bonner General hospital will adhere to standard visiting regulations which allow afternoon visits from 2 to 4 and evening visits from 7 to 8. There will be no morning visiting hours. No child under age 16 may visit the obstetrical or children’s wards. As a precaution for well children, no child under the age of six may visit at the hospital at any time. The nurse in charge will determine the number of persons and length of time a patient may have company.

CITY STUDIES SEWAGE PLANT PLANS 

The city is planning a sewage disposal plant to replace the present septic plant at the end of Third, which will be covered with water when Albeni Falls dam is completed. The new sewage plant will be sited at the southwest corner of the city park and will handle a population of 15,000 people, providing for expansion of the city without additional sewage disposal costs besides yearly maintenance. Part of the Farragut naval training station disposal plant will be used in the Sandpoint system, said Mayor Gray.
