The law roundup is compiled from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office incident log from Jan.18 to Jan. 25. It is not meant to serve as an exhaustive account.

Jan. 18

An officer helped a man who got off the train in Libby and his vehicle battery was dead and needed a jump.

A man reported being maced by another man and is now driving around the block. An officer learned the macing happened a few days ago and the suspect is driving near his home. The responding officer didn’t find the suspect.

Jan. 19

An officer handled a call about a juvenile who was found with two vapes.

A caller sought a welfare check on a relative who had a history of PTSD. Law enforcement found the man deceased of an apparent suicide in a vehicle.

Jan. 20

A Troy man called 911, reporting he believes his mother is part of a money laundering scam. 

A police officer responded to a call about a possible homeless camp near the duck ponds at East Fifth Street Extension, Libby.

A county deputy investigated a call from Rexford about a man’s mother-in-law smacking his 12-year-old son. Dispatch was advised that the grandmother was in Flathead County and Kalispell police would put her up for the night.

A 15-year-old girl from Troy reported she didn’t feel safe at her home. A deputy helped her get to a new location.

A caller said a man stole an engagement ring and house keys. A little more than an hour later, the woman called to report she found the missing property.

Jan. 21

An Adult Protective Services worker reported a female had inappropriate conduct toward her by a family member in the 100 block of Kootenai Vista Drive, Libby. An officer advised he would respond.

A caller said a man was laying in a ditch near the bridge at mile marker 12 on U.S. 2. He was wearing a white sweat shirt and red pants. When a deputy arrived, he determined the man was actually a woman. She was bloody and skinned up, but refused medical attention and said she was OK. After the officer checked the area, he saw the woman walking back to Troy.

A caller said a woman was being abused by her husband in the 400 block of Yellowtail Road, Libby. The officer made plans to meet soon with the caller.

A juvenile daughter was getting threats from adults about photos and videos she has on her phone.

Someone said her neighbor’s dogs were constantly at large on her property, attacked her dogs and tried to go after people in the 25000 block of Bull Lake Road. A deputy planned to follow up when he was back on shift.

Jan. 22

A caller said they believed their residence in the 100 block of Kootenai Vista Drive, Libby, was broken into and a gun and medication was taken. 

A resident living on Old Sinclair Road, Eureka, said an unknown woman just walked into her home, asked her who she was before leaving. 

A 911 hang up turned out to be a child accidentally pressing the button on a watch.

Jan. 23

A Eureka police officer answered a call at a local store about a homeless man, covered in feces, who was trying to break into vehicles. The caller also reported finding a container with marijuana and wine that he said belonged to the accused. He said the man had run off three customers and he wants him removed from the property. The officer found the man walking south on U.S. 93. He said he was going to get a ride to the Flathead.

A runaway juvenile was reported from a residence on Spencer Road, Libby. Two deputies responded and one found the female about 30 minutes later. The caller later picked up the child. He later said he didn’t want law enforcement to respond.

A woman called to report her ex-boyfriend sent her a video of him burning her dresser on her front lawn. The woman was told it was a civil issue.

A caller with possible mental issues called to report his state vehicle was trashed and the suspect needed disciplined. 

A woman, identified as Tarryne Galloway, was reported to be in the Park County Detention Center. She is wanted on a probation violation with a $75,000 bond. State records indicate she has been moved to the Lincoln County Detention Center. Galloway was convicted in 2021 of criminal endangerment in Lincoln County.

Someone reported a man in a black Chevy Tahoe has been shooting a gun for the past few nights in the 9600 block of U.S. 2, Troy. The caller said the man doesn’t live in the area and they weren’t sure what he was shooting at. Law enforcement did not make contact with the suspect.

Jan. 25

When an officer returned a dropped 911 call from a residence on the Bull Lake Road, it went to voicemail and the mailbox was full. A second check revealed that a toddler got ahold of the phone, resulting in the accidental call.

Someone reported her neighbors attempted to let her hunting dogs loose from their kennels. An officer spoke to the woman.

A caller said she could hear voices from a building in the 700 block of West Idaho Avenue, Libby. Two officers responded, but only found an unoccupied building.
