The Troy Trojans bounced back in a big way Saturday night, cruising to a 69-42 Western 7B victory over the Mission Bulldogs after a tough home loss earlier in the week.
Troy (8-4 overall, 3-1 Western 7B) controlled the Bulldogs from the opening tip, jumping out to a 17-3 first-quarter lead and steadily building separation in each period. The Trojans led 34-14 at halftime and never allowed Mission to find an offensive rhythm.
The Trojans added 20 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Two nights earlier, Troy fell 72-58 to the St. Regis Tigers in a nonleague matchup that saw the visitors pull away behind a strong middle stretch.
St. Regis led 17-7 after one quarter and extended its advantage with 21 points in both the second and third periods. Troy made a late push with a 20-point fourth quarter but couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
Nolan Morris led the Trojans with 19 points, connecting on five two-point baskets and three shots from beyond the arc. Carson Orr added 14 points, while Thomas Guinard chipped in 12.
Despite the loss to St. Regis, Troy’s convincing win over Mission kept the Trojans near the top of the Western 7B standings in second place.
The Trojans play Thursday at Thompson Falls before hosting Stillwater Christian Saturday. Senior Night recognition will be held.
