Writing Dawn’s obituary feels unreal, as everyone who cared about her is struggling with her departure. Dawn was incredibly kind, always welcoming her favorite people with a warm hug and ending each meeting with another embrace and a kiss on the cheek. Her creativity shone through in her distinctive cards and letters, and she had a deep love of reading, prayer, singing, and dancing to gospel music.

Her sense of humor was infectious, and she treasured time spent with friends — old and new — including Liberty, Vern and Libby, Linda, Annette, Toddi and Rich, Julie, Lisa, Laura, Everly and countless others. Dawn touched so many lives that even employees at companies she frequented mourned her passing.

Having lost her husband, Jerry, Dawn looked forward to reuniting with him in Heaven. Faith was integral to her, and she found comfort in Jesus as her journey came to an end. She never realized how much she meant to those around her and would not want anyone to grieve her death. Instead, Dawn hoped her life would be celebrated — with laughter and eating plenty of junk food in her memory — knowing she is now free from pain and surrounded by angels, at peace.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the final arrangements. Please visit Dawn’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
