Trouette appealing town hall verdict

COEUR d’ALENE — Security company owner Paul Trouette is appealing the revocation of his security agency and security agent licenses following his December conviction on two counts of battery and violations related to security agent uniform and duty requirements, all misdemeanors.
“This case will continue until a reasonable outcome is attained,” he said Friday.
Although the hearing is on tap for Feb. 23, Trouette told The Press via email that it will be rescheduled.
The convictions came 10 months after a chaotic legislative town hall in February, during which Post Falls resident Teresa Borrenpohl was forcibly removed after heckling legislators.
Trouette and several employees of his security company, LEAR Asset Management, provided security services for the event.
The city of Coeur d'Alene revoked LEAR Asset Management’s license shortly after the event for violations of city ordinances, including the requirement that security personnel wear uniforms clearly marked as “security.”
There was no contract between the company and the event host, the Kootenai County Republican Central Committee. Trouette had previously said he had provided the services on a volunteer basis.
Trouette was found not guilty of two additional battery charges, including one involving Borrenpohl. He was acquitted of two counts of false imprisonment.
Battery and false imprisonment charges were also filed against LEAR employees Jesse Jones, Christofer Berg, Alexander Trouette and Russell Dune. Those charges were dropped in early December, before Paul Trouette went to trial.
The rescheduled hearing date has not yet been announced. The combined charges carry a maximum possible sentence of two years in jail and fines of up to $4,000.
