Saturday boys hoops: Ronan surges past Polson

RONAN — Four Ronan players reached double figures, led by Kolby Finley’s 18 points, and the Chiefs rallied past Polson 59-54 in Northwest A boys basketball Saturday night.

Matiya Nenemay hit three 3-pointers and added 16 points for Ronan, which is 14-3 overall and 9-2 in league games. He hit two threes in the fourth quarter, with the first one putting his team up for good, 47-45.  

Finley went 5-for-6 at the line in the final frame. Siouxprixm Qualtier and Jhett McDonald had 12 points each, and Qualtier had three 3-pointers. 

Malakai Curley hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points to help Polson (4-6, 7-9) take a 32-26 halftime lead. He finished with four treys and 20 points.

Browning 74, Libby 57

LIBBY — Royce Madplume scored 13 points and Eli Edwards added 12 off the bench as Browning used a balanced offense to solve Northwest A rival Libby. 

Jesse Denny and Jhett Cobell hit two 3-pointers each for the Runnin’ Indians (10-7, 7-4 Northwest A). 

That offset a 28-point night from the Loggers’ Tristan Andersen, who had 19 points after halftime. Bransen Holzer added 13 points for Libby (2-15, 0-11).

WHITEFISH — Austin Savik scored 21 points, 11 coming during Bigfork’s explosive second quarter, and the Vikings put away Whitefish in Northwest A play. 

Alex Oches hit three 3-pointers and added 11 points for Bigfork (10-7, 7-4 in Northwest A games), and teammate Tamret Savik added 12 points. Treker Hickey scored all of his 10 points in the first half. 

Leo Bungener’s 11 points led Whitefish (6-10, 2-8).

Eureka 73, Plains 63

EUREKA — Rowan Burow scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures for Eureka, which surged late to take the Western 7-B win over the Horsemen. 

Tyce Van Orden added 17 points for the Lions (7-6 overall, 4-0 in 7-B games), seven coming in the final period. Brody Chapman knocked down a 3-pointer in the final minute that broke a 63-63 tie, starting a closing 10-0 run. 

Jarrett Weeks had 19 points for Plains (3-14, 2-6) and hit jumpers that tied the game at 61-all and 63-63.
