Bulldogs split pair in Northwest A action

The Whitefish Bulldogs picked up a conference win over Libby before falling to Bigfork in Northwest A boys basketball play last week.
Bigfork used a dominant second quarter to pull away from Whitefish (6-10, 2-8 Northwest A) in a 77-40 victory on Saturday.
Whitefish trailed 17-7 after the first quarter and was unable to recover from Bigfork’s second-quarter surge.
Austin Savik led the Vikings with 21 points, including 11 during a pivotal 28-point second quarter that helped Bigfork seize control. The Vikings (10-7, 7-4 Northwest A) outscored Whitefish 28-11 in the frame to build a 45-18 halftime advantage.
Alex Ochs added 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers, while Tamret Savik chipped in 12. Treker Hickey scored all 10 of his points in the first half as Bigfork maintained steady scoring throughout the contest.
Leo Bungener paced Whitefish with 11 points. Will Sisson added nine, Jake Shors scored six and Cooper Dudley contributed five.
Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs rode a fast start to a 68-51 win over Libby on Thursday.
Will Sisson caught fire in the opening quarter, draining four 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 23 points. His hot shooting fueled a 22-10 first-quarter run that set the tone for Whitefish
Leo Bungener provided a spark off the bench with 12 points, while Aiden Rickels added eight, including two 3-pointers. Jayce Thew finished with nine points and Finn Ryan contributed seven.
Whitefish led 35-26 at halftime and extended the margin in the second half to secure the conference victory.
Libby was led by Tristan Andersen with 16 points and Bransen Holzer with 15.
