With love in our hearts and tears in our eyes, the family of Bruce Jeffrey Adams let him slip away at Valley Hospital in Spokane Valley Jan. 1, 2026.
Bruce was born in Libby, Montana on July 3, 1962, to Warren (Ben) and Ruby Adams where he joined his only sibling, a brother, Keith (Ben) Adams.
He grew up in Libby and loved most sports. He played Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and attended basketball camp at Gonzaga in Spokane where he received most valuable player honors for his age group. He played sports in junior high and high school where he had many friends, including some teachers and coaches who are his friends yet today.
Bruce was injured in a car accident in 1978 and moved to Missoula where he made more friends and graduated from Sentinel High School in 1980. Bruce earned his BA degree in communications at the University of Montana and moved to San Diego to work in car sales and later sold group season tickets for the Padres and Chargers. Later, Bruce worked for the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation while he worked on his Master's Degree in Native American Studies. Bruce loved the California weather and drove the 8 and 15 freeways to the beach nearly every day.
Bruce was a great storyteller and never missed a chance to needle his good friends. He had a wicked sense of humor and learned from his maternal grandfather how to take a simple story and turn it into something everyone would enjoy. He saw humor everywhere. People loved being with him.
Bruce is survived by his father Warren (Ben) Adams in Libby and his mother Ruby Adams, sister Autumn Stanley and her husband Don, nephew Craig Adams and his great niece Lennyn in Spokane Valley and his brother Keith (Debbie) Adams in San Antonio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Don and Aloha Sleizer and maternal grandparents Bert and Mary Durbin and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There is no service at this time. A celebration of life is being planned for summer. Time and place will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spinal Cord Research, Miami Project or to local sports programs.
