David Thompson SAR hosting avalanche seminar
David Thompson Search and Rescue is hosting an avalanche seminar this weekend.
It is free and open to the public.
It begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the DTSAR building on City Service Road, next to Riverfront Park in Libby. The evening session involves classwork where attendees will learn about advanced avalanche awareness, skills and survival techniques.
At 7 a.m. Saturday, the group of instructors and students will begin the trek to the Keeler Creek Warming Hut, followed by the snowmobile track.
Lunch will be provided by the Troy Snowmobile Club and DTSAR.

Kootenai Stargazers Astronomy Club to meet Friday
The Kootenai Stargazers Astronomy Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday at 104 Mineral Ave. in Libby in the Achievements office conference room (please use the back entrance) with the presentation starting at 7 p.m.
Kootenai Quilt Guild meets second Monday of each month
Kootenai Valley Quilt Guild monthly meetings are the second Monday of each month, 5:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Libby.
