Douglas L. Brown

Douglas L. Brown, 85 years old of Libby, Montana passed peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Jan. 22, 2026.

He was born in Malta, Montana on Dec. 3, 1940 to Bert and Corinne Brown. He was the third of eight children, 6 boys and twin girls. He worked some ranch jobs before joining the army and was stationed in Germany. 

He moved to Libby where he worked for many years at the lumber mill in the planer and plywood plant. He met and married Mary Lou Mueller in July of 1966. They had two girls, Corinne and Leeanne. He loved his family and would do anything for his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ward, Gary, Richard (Dick) and Barry (Butch), as well as twin sisters Jean and Jo. 

He is survived by his daughters Corinne Wright and Leeanne Shelley (Kevin), grandchildren Jesse Shelley, Ericka Jenkins (Nick) and Seth Wright (Dorothy), and gre-granddaughters Sydalee Jenkins, Daisy Jenkins, Della Wright, Willow Shelley, and his brother Ken Brown.

Doug loved gardening, cutting firewood, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends and he loved his pets. He had a stroke in 2020 that caused speech problems and suffered with dementia toward the end; but he always knew his family and always had a smile.
