Hungry Red Devils hope to shake up 14C tourney

Coach Trever Kayser and his Noxon Red Devil boys will be going into this week’s District 14C tournament in Polson with an optimistic attitude and a hungry young team feeling like they have nothing to lose.
The Red Devils completed regular season play with three games lat week, falling 82-36 to Plains in Plains Tuesday, losing 70-50 to Two Eagle River in Noxon Friday and falling 83-40 to Superior in Superior Saturday.
The No. 4 seed into this week’s District 14C tournament, the Devils will face No. 5 Charlo at 7 p.m. Thursday in Linderman Gym in Polson. If Noxon wins, the Devils advance to play the No. 1 seeded St. Regis Tigers in the tourney semifinals Friday.
Kayser wants his team to remember the most important thing in Polson. “It’s been kind of a rough season, we have struggled at times,” he said, “we just want the kids to remember to have fun. We plan on taking it one game at a time at district.
“If we get past Charlo, St. Regis will definitely present a challenge,” he added. “But whatever happens, we will give it our best shot.”
Individual Noxon scoring from the Plains and Two Eagle games was not available.
At Superior, Shane Hatchel led Noxon with 19 points, Justice Kayser, Guthrie Kayser and Zane Brown scored six points apiece and Jasper Hill chipped in with three.
