Play great defense and never give up.
That’s what St. Regis coach Zack Lott has been urging his Lady Tigers to do all season and he sees no reason to change that M.O. heading into District 14C tournament play this week.
As the No. 5 seed, the Lady Tigers will take on No. 4 Two Eagle River at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the 14C tourney in Polson. If the Tigers win that game, they will advance to play No. 1 Charlo in the tourney semifinals Friday.
The top three teams from the 14C tourney advance on to the Western C divisional tournament in Butte Feb. 26-28.
The Lady Tigers completed regular season action with a pair of games last week, falling 63-40 to Two Eagle River in Pablo Thursday and 45-19 to Superior in St. Regis Friday.
St. Regis was ice-cold early in Pablo, fell way behind in the first quarter and could never recover. Daisy Sansom led the Tigers with 12 points in the game, Shelby Simkins added eight, Shannon Todd six, Lilly Sansom five, Izzy Hardy four, Jacey Pruitt three and Emma Gillette two.
Keke Tenas led Two Eagle to the win with 22 points and Emma Spotted Eagle and Jodessa Dickson added 11 each.
Against rival Superior Friday, Gillette scored a team-high eight points, Daisy Sansom and Mae Grosenbaugh four each and Todd three.
