Michael Van Lancker, 61, lovingly known as "Chainsaw," passed away on Feb. 14, 2026, after a long battle with end-stage kidney failure.
Chainsaw was a man who lived life with grit, loyalty and heart. A proud Harley rider, he found freedom on the open road. The wind in his face, the rumble beneath him, and the brotherhood that came with it. Riding wasn’t just a hobby; it was part of who he was, it was where he felt most alive and most himself.
He was good with his hands and could build, fix, or figure out just about anything. But what truly defined him wasn’t what he did, it was how he showed up for the people he loved. He valued his friends like family and his family like everything. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, stand by you when times were hard, and share a story or laugh that you’d remember long after.
Through the challenges of his illness, he carried himself with strength and heart. Those who loved him saw both his toughness and his tenderness, especially when it came to the people closest to him.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Cecilia. His partner in life since they were teenagers. Their love story spanned 38 years. Built on love, resilience, and a deep bond that never wavered.
He is also survived by his children, son, Vincent, daughter, Amanda, son-in-law, Patrick, daughter-in-law, Erica, grandchildren, Zoe, Chevelle, Addison, Jude and Luke, his sister, Robin and brother, Bill, extended family, and a wide circle of friends who will forever remember his stories, his stubborn streak, his loyalty, and the unmistakable sound of his Harley coming down the road.
His ride here may have ended, but the memories, the miles, and the love he gave will carry on.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home.
Ride free, Chainsaw.
