In wait for the not-so-rapidly approaching Western B divisional tournament in Ronan March 5-7, coach Brooks Sanford and the Trotters completed regular season play with a flurry of three home games last week, defeating Noxon in a non-conference game 70-6 Tuesday, falling to Mission 79-40 Friday and losing 49-42 to a fired-up Eureka Lady Lions team Saturday in a pair of 7B games.
In the win over Noxon, Ava Lawyer scored 22 points to lead the Trotters, Katelyn Subatch added 15 points, Hadyn Rice 12, Mila Rivinius eight, Taryn Meredith seven, Jaycee Carr four and Reece Meredith two. See other story for Noxon scoring.
Against Mission, Subatch led Plains with 16 points, including two 3-pointers, adding five rebounds and two steals, Lawyer scored eight points in addition to securing 11 rebounds, grabbing a steal and blocking a shot, Taryn Meredith added seven points and six rebounds, Carr three points and two steals, and Grace Subatch and Rivinius three points apiece.
Cora Matt led Mission to the win with 18 points, Mary Lemere scored 13 for Mission and Madison Incashola 12.
In the somewhat surprising loss to the Lady Lions, who the Trotters had defeated in Eureka earlier this season, Rice led Plains with 19 points, Rivinius scored 12, Katleyn Subatch six, Carr four and Taryn Meredith one.
Aubrey Casazza scored a game-high 20 points for Eureka and Haidyn Guckenberg added 11 for the Lady Lions. Eureka and Troy are currently battling it out for District 7B’s final spot into the Western B divisional tournament as the season winds down.
