Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 1 week, 1 day AGO
“Love Finds Andy Hardy,” a 1938 film about the complexities of teenage love featuring Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland will be shown for Movie Night at the Museum Feb. 24.
“Love Finds Andy Hardy” is one of 16 films that feature the Hardy family characters. In this film, Andy, played by Rooney, must decide on a date to take to the country club party of the year — the Christmas Eve dance.
Andy is excited to take his girlfriend, Polly Benedict (Ann Rutherford), as his date, especially since he just bought his first car, but conflicts arise in the form of scheduling and matters of the heart when he meets the neighbor’s visiting granddaughter Betsy Booth (Garland).
The Andy Hardy series started with a theater production in 1928. The initial Hardy film debuted in 1937 and the last was released in 1958. Though actors came and went throughout the series, Rooney played Andy Hardy in each film. Rooney enjoyed a long and successful career from 1926 to 2014 and is credited in more than 300 titles.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the movie starts at 7 p.m. in the Swanberg Classroom with opening remarks by host Jacob Thomas. Admission and popcorn are free. Soda, water, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Seating is provided, but visitors are welcome to bring their own.
The museum is located at 124 Second Ave. E., Kalispell. For more information, visit nwmthistory.org or call 756-8381.
