New season for tribal recreation permits begins March 1

Flathead Reservation conservation and recreation permits expire Feb. 28 and the new permit season begins March 1.

Permits for the coming season are available from the CSKT Division of Fish, Wildlife, Recreation, and Conservation at 406 6th Ave. East in Polson. The office is open 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays. Permits may also be purchased in person at Westland Seed in Ronan. For online purchases, visit ols.fwp.mt.gov/.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is launching a new License Ambassador program for all external license sales, including tribal recreation permits. The new system does not accept cash or checks for license purchases.

Under the new system, permit purchasers are encouraged to double check their purchase or license application before making the final submission. Once an application has been entered or an over-the-counter license has been purchased, it is final and cannot be changed.

The fee for tribal permits for non-member reservation residents remains the same as last year: $40 for ages 12-14 ($12 for fishing and $8 for bird hunting); $40 for ages 15-61, $12 for fishing, $15 for bird hunting and $100 for camping (must be 18 or older); those 62 and older pay the same, except $8 for bird hunting, while disabled reservation residents pay $37 for the recreation permit.

Prices go up to $100 for state residents who don’t live on the reservation as well as non-tribal members who don’t live in Montana, with addons for fishing, hunting and camping. Three-day conservation licenses are available for $80.
