The best way to reduce salt in your diet is to cook from scratch. Some tips include using herbs, spices, garlic, onion, lemon, and vinegar as substitutes. Avoid consuming processed, prepackages or frozen meals, which often contain high sodium. Rinsing canned vegetables and beans can also reduce 40% of sodium content. But fresh fruits and vegetables, or frozen without sauce,s are always the best route.

Tending to Mending is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 27. Stop by if you are missing a button, have a ripped seasm or etc. There is no cost; donations are accepted.
