Gaige Johnson and Rocky Monroe were celebrated on senior night as the Bonners Ferry Badgers wrestled at home against the Post Falls Trojans on Feb. 11.

The two seniors have markedly different high school wrestling careers. Johnson has been wrestling for the vast majority of his life and has been in the Bonners Ferry Wrestling Club since he was five years old. He has finished first in his bracket twice this season.

Monroe, on the other hand, started wrestling this year. However, he has been impressive, securing both third and fourth place in multiple tournaments.

The Badgers had to forfeit several weight classes due to not having as many wrestlers as the Trojans. There were eight matches in total, featuring seven Bonners Ferry wrestlers. Eivind Falck wrestled in two different weight classes.

Falck won his match in the 132 pound weight category in just 22 seconds, before losing in the 138 category by a score of 8-2.

Robert Kelsey won in exactly one minute by submission. Colt Barras did the same, by a score of 5-1 in 3:01.

Aiden Dodd won by a score of 3-0 in 93 seconds before Johnson recorded the biggest win of the night. He won by a score of 18-3 in just over 5 minutes of wrestling, putting an exclamation on senior night.

Monroe was defeated 11-0 after, before Taylor Dodd finished off a dominant evening, winning 13-2 in just 81 seconds.

In the only girls wrestling match of the night, Kylie Calderone defeated her Post Falls opponent by a score of 13-3 in less than four minutes.

Youth wrestling was underway over the weekend, with Bonners Ferry wrestling club members participating in the Rumble in the North and Heartland dual qualifiers in Post Falls.

Dalton Regehr entered both and finished in first place. He is now qualified to represent the club with Team Idaho at the Heartland Duals in Iowa in April.

Hawkin Skinner, Ace Richards, Evielyn Sumpter and Titan Richards all competed in the Rumble in the North. Titan Richards finished fourth, Ace Richards and Sumpter finished sixth and Skinner placed seventh.
