Libby Greenchain wrestlers headed to state tournament

The Libby Logger Greenchain wrestling team is sending a baker’s dozen to the 2026 Montana State All Class Wrestling Tournament this week in Billings.

Wrestling began at 3 p.m. Thursday at MetraPark with first-round matches for boys and first and second round matches for girls.

Friday, the Parade of Athletes began at 9 a.m. followed by the National Anthem. Wrestling followed with quarterfinal and consolation matches. Semifinals for boys and girls began at 5 p.m.

Saturday, wrestling begins at 9 a.m. The consolation finals are scheduled for 1 p.m. with championship finals, on four mats, for boys and girls at 3 p.m.

Last weekend in Dillon, 12 boys and one girl qualified for state.

Meghan Connelley became Libby’s first female wrestler to qualify for the state tournament after a fourth-place finish at 155 pounds.

The boys squad is sending one dozen to Billings after a third-place team finish at Dillon in the West Class A Divisional. Four were runners-up.

Here are Libby’s state qualifiers:

Sophomore Levi Nick was second and freshman Corbin Wissenbach sixth at 110 pounds.

Senior Bridger Bache was second at 118, senior Jeremiah Thomas was sixth at 132 and freshman Maddux Stow was sixth at 138.

At 150, junior Tristan DeShazer was fifth, junior Boe Miles was third at 157, junior Alex Reatz was fourth at 165 and junior Hunter Rooney was second at 175.

Libby also had two qualifiers at 190 pounds, including runner-up, senior Ian Thom and fourth-place finisher, senior Brysen Miller.

Senior Hunter Nelson rounded out the state contingent after a fifth place finish at 285.
