Lupe Hernandez Barron, 80

Lupe Hernandez Barron, 80, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away Feb. 14, 2026, at Mountain Valley of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation in Kellogg, Idaho, where she had been a resident. Lupe was born Jan. 29, 1946, in Fresno, Calif., a daughter of the late Manuel and Louise Hernandez. 

Lupe, along with her six siblings, grew up on a ranch in Dos Palos, Calif. Lupe graduated from Dos Palos Joint Union High School, Class of 1964. Lupe was the mother of two daughters, Nancy and Michele, of Redding, Calif. 

Lupe moved to Idaho from California nearly 40 years ago. In the last 15 years, she worked at the Hercules Inn and the Red Light Garage, both in Wallace, Idaho. She was very social and enjoyed line dancing and other activities that involved getting together with others. Lupe was a compassionate person and spent a lot of her time helping others. 

She will be remembered mostly for the warm smile she always had for everyone. 

In addition to her parents, Lupe is preceded in death by her beloved husband, MSGT Bernard Gargulis; a brother, Ramon; and three sisters, Mary, Hortense and Annie. 

Lupe is survived by her two brothers, Greg Hernandez and Manuel Hernandez. 

Lupe’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation for all the compassionate care given to Lupe since May of 2025. 

Private family interment will occur at Day Cemetery in Osburn, Idaho.
