Steven 'Roy' LeRoy Ziesmer, 86
Shoshone News-Press | UPDATED 2 hours, 23 minutes AGO
Steven “Roy” LeRoy Ziesmer, 86, of Osburn, Idaho, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Feb. 15, 2026, at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, Idaho. Roy was born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1939 to Ben and Ruth (Poulton) Ziesmer. He spent most of his life living on and caring for his family's property on Coeur d'Alene Mountain.
Roy proudly served in the United States Army before he became a truck driver and sawmill worker, among other things, and retired from the Idaho Department of Transportation. He worked hard and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the wildlife that often visited his property, his "pets" as he often called them.
His door was always open, and his home was filled with love and comfort for his family. A visit with Roy usually consisted of a good story or two and a cup of coffee, which was always hot, black and ready. He was quick with a smile and a clever joke.
Roy was very proud of his 3 children, Daniel (Wendy) Ziesmer, Rick (Corrine) Ziesmer and Carleen Boland. He enjoyed being "Grandpa" to his 5 grandchildren and his 7 great grandchildren — watching them play on his property was a great joy for him.
He enjoyed his Papa Murphy's pizza, ice cream, his never-ending cup of coffee and watching Nascar. Roy's laughter and the twinkle in his eye will be greatly missed.
Rest easy, Dad — until we see you again.
At Roy’s request, no services are planned at this time.
