Claude Barker, 82

Claude D. Barker passed away Jan. 30, 2026, after two months of a severe illness. He was born in Morgantown, W.Va., on March 15, 1943. 

He had two sons, Douglas and Brian, with his first wife, Jane, and one son, Clayton, with Elizabeth. He had eight grandchildren, Mariah, Thomas, Bobbi, John, Jacob, Ripley, Harley and Daniel. Claude was the oldest of 10 children. Most of them still live in West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary, and two siblings, Robert and Nancy. Survivors are Doris (Neville) Fowler, Junior Neville, George Pots, Anthony, Martha, Jerry and Randy Davich.

Claude served our country in numerous ways: 22 years in the Army; 10 years in Civil Service; 37 years as a member of the American Legion; 15 years in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, retiring as Commander of Flotilla 84 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was a true patriot.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10 a.m., at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 625 E. Haycraft Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
