PREP WRESTLING: Lakeland cruises to fourth straight regional title

RATHDRUM — Bryan Patrick (98 pounds), Zach Teal (106), Colby Adams (113), Carson Leonard (120), Kade Knopp (132), Cole Cooper (144) and Gage McWatters (175) captured regional titles in their respective weight classes for Lakeland, which cruised to a fourth straight regional title at the state qualifying meet at Lakeland High on Saturday.

It is the fourth straight regional title for Lakeland, all under fourth-year coach Will Edelblute.

“We’re in a really good spot right now,” Edelblute said. “Everything, from the youth program to middle school and high school is running like a well-oiled machine, and I’m lucky to be a part of it.”

Zak Wood (126), John Holman (165), Jeramiah Palmer (190) and Jackson Holman (215) claimed regional titles for Sandpoint, which finished second with 282 points.

The top two finishers in each weight class qualified for state starting next Friday at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. A wild card is available for the third and fourth-place finishers in each weight class.

Kelby Harvey (144), Zach David (150), Amado Stewart (157), Aiden Yearout (165) and Zack Sotin (190) won titles for St. Maries, which finished second with 346 points.
