Panthers pride on display in 14C tournament
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 months, 3 weeks AGO
There was a pride of Panther teams in Polson last week as the Alberton boys and girls basketball squads completed season play at the District 14C tournament.
Although groups of panthers in the wild are quite rare and technically called springs or claws, these groups of Panthers playing in Polson are groups of cats of a different sort than that and definitely displayed Alberton school pride and teamwork in the 14C tourney, providing perhaps a more appropriate name for the players and coaches involved.
On the Linderman Gymnasium floor, coach Cera Bestwick’s pride of Lady Panthers fell to Hot Springs 57-23 Thursday and were eliminated 43-29 by Noxon Friday in loser out play.
Coach Carson Callison’s pride of Panthers also went down but also showed a lot of fight before doing so, falling 77-31 to Mineral County foe Superior Thursday and 65-54 to Noxon Saturday morning.
