Brent L. Aizawa, 76
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 month, 2 weeks AGO
We said a heartbroken goodbye to Brent on Feb. 8, 2026. He was a loving and kind husband, an absolutely amazing father, father-in-law and Pops whose steady presence and big heart shaped the lives of all who knew him.
Brent was born in Twin Falls on Jan. 6, 1950, a third-generation Idahoan who spent his entire life in the state he loved. Raised in Jerome with his parents, brother and two sisters, he later attended the University of Idaho before moving to the Ketchum/Sun Valley area for 25 years. There, he worked in heavy construction and bartended, earning a reputation for being hardworking and a whole lot of fun.
Before meeting the love of his life, Anne, in 1989, Brent loved riding his Harley with his good friend Randy and many others. Brent and Anne were married May 25, 1991, in Sun Valley. Their daughter, Emily, arrived in May 1993, and in 1994, the family moved to North Idaho, living in Coeur d’Alene for 12 years before settling in the Athol area in 2006.
Brent lived with diabetes for more than 40 years, which led to a kidney transplant in 2004. Our family remains eternally grateful to Brent’s donor family for their extraordinary gift in the midst of their grief.
He was endlessly supportive of Emily in every endeavor — horse shows, gymnastics meets and beyond — always her biggest hype man. He proudly supported Anne through nursing school and Emily through the University of Idaho, and he loved trips to Vandal football games and drives to the Washington coast.
Brent will be deeply missed by his wife of nearly 35 years, Anne; daughter Emily and her wife, Shannon; and granddaughter Blake; sisters Karen and Kathy Aizawa; best friend Curtis and wife Sandra; their sons, Curtis and Brent Haines, and Brent’s wife, Ashley; nephews Cache and Holden; and extended family.
A celebration of Brent’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at St. Pius Catholic Church (625 E. Haycraft Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815), with a reception to follow. Brent requested guests wear red, white or black — his favorite colors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Timberlake Fire & Rescue (P.O. Box 810, Athol, ID 83801), Kootenai Medical Center (www.kootenaihealthfoundation.org), or Hospice of North Idaho (2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815).
