Whitefish Bulldog wrestler Taylor Dorvall won second place at the Montana All-Class State Tournament at the MetraPark in Billings last week, as Flathead High School’s Julia Kay took top honors.
Six Whitefish wrestlers competed at the Montana All-Class State Tournament at the MetraPark in Billings last week: seniors Dorvall, Sam Akey and Kaycee Orvis, junior Carter Olson, sophomore Orla Sullivan and freshman Paxton Elm.
Bulldog Dorvall won second place after Flathead High School’s Julia Kay took top honors.
"We had a few others just fall short of placing but I couldn’t be happier with them,” Whitefish Head Coach Adrian Gualtier said of his squad. “Watching them get to wrestle on the big stage was amazing.”
Akey, in the 215-pound category, lost to Aston Orthman of Hardin. Elm was edged out by a wrestler from Frenchtown and one from Laurel in the 103-pound division. Bulldog Olson, wrestling at 157 pounds, won a match against Brady Steinmetz of Lockwood and dropped one to Greysen Hostetler from Dawson County.
“Can’t wait to see what the future holds for each one of them,” Gaultier said.
Sidney/Fairview, Hardin and Laurel took the top three spots for the Class-A boys and Billing Senior and Custer County won first and second in the girls division.
