Frederick “John” Kuntz, 82, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family in his final days. He was born in Missoula on Oct 7th, 1943 to Frederick and Helen Kuntz.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Anita (Hyatt) Kuntz, sister Marie (Kuntz) Carey, and parents Frederick and Helen Kuntz. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Doherty) Kuntz and his children Kelly Skare and her husband Don of Columbia Falls, Sandy Kuntz and her partner John of Galata; April Moore and her husband Corey of Kalispell, Tony Kuntz and his wife Tina of Eureka and his sister Peggy (Kuntz) Smith of Colton WA.
He had nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. John grew up in Ronan and moved to Columbia Falls in 1968 to work at the aluminum plant; he worked there 29 years before retiring. After living in Columbia Falls for a few years, he moved his family to Hungry Horse in 1972. Many years later, he moved to Coram where he met and married Carolyn. In his spare time, John enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and leatherworking.
A memorial service is being held at Columbia Mortuary on Feb. 27th at 11:a.m. Columbia Mortuary is caring for the family.
