Polson Seniors: Here comes the Worm Moon

The full moon on March 3 is named “The Worm Moon.” The geese on the golf course will tell you where the worms are located, and yes, they are on your lawn too. They aerate and fertilize your lawn. Some eat your green leaves too.
We need a volunteer route driver(s) for a few days a week starting April 1 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Get help with your taxes from the AARP Tax Assistance Program on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. starting Feb. 2. You must register for an appointment and fill out an information packet.
March appointment times are filling up quickly! There’s no charge; donations to the senior center are welcome. Support AARP. They provide computers, fax machines for electronic filing, and a well-trained and experienced staff of licensed tax preparation volunteers to assist you.
KIWANIS Club of Polson: The 3rd Thursday of each month through June at noon. All are welcome.
Cribbage (the most popular two-player card game ever) starts on Wednesdays in March. We welcome all skill levels; Round Robin format, perhaps. Leave a good phone number.
Bingo is every Friday at 6 p.m. with playing card bingo on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30. Other activities at the center include pinochle, Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. (pass 4) and Mondays at 12:30 (no pass); bridge and Mahjong groups meet regularly; and exercise class (sitting, standing, low impact and video assisted), 10:30-11:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The pool table is open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.
The bowling fun-league is on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. at the Sportspage Bowl.
The Spinning Wheelers meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 208-520-1013.
The Veterans Service Officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. -noon. Walk-ins are welcome.
Lunch ($5 donation) is served from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays; milk is available with all meals. Main dishes include Carolina hot dogs, Feb. 26; Birthday dinner for lunch (served at noon) with beef roast, sides and birthday cake, Feb. 27; cheese soup and a meat sandwich, March 2; lasagna with garlic bread; March 3; baked chicken, potatoes and gravy, March 4; French dip, March 5; and sausage links with gravy and biscuits, March 6.
The Polson Senior Citizens Community Center provides space for individuals and groups to meet for physical and mental health, social and educational purposes. Our center is available for reserved special events on weekends and evenings. We are open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on weekdays, or later by appointment.
