As we get older, our energy needs decline. Seniors should focus on nutrient-dense foods to combat decreased calorie needs with higher nutrient requirements. We need protein to maintain muscle mass, calcium and vitamin D for bones, and fiber for digestion.

Eat varied fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. At the same time, stay well hydrated and reduce added sugars and salt.

Tending to Mending is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 27 at the center. Bring in clothing that is in need of mending/repair. Cost is by donation.

The next bingo game is 2 p.m. March 14.

Everyone is welcome at our meals (young and old). Come enjoy a delicious meal and good conversation. If you would like a takeout meal, please call 406-745-4462 by 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Friday and by 2 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays. Meals are served at noon Tuesdays and Fridays and 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. Menus for the month are available in the entryway of the center.

Upcoming main dishes include hamburger gravy with mashed potatoes, Feb. 27; potato and ham soup with egg-salad sandwiches, March 3; pork chops with stuffing, March 4; and spaghetti with French bread, March 6. Milk is available at all meals.

Our Senior Center is available for rent. If interested, please call 406-745-4462 or stop by. If you have questions about obtaining Elder Commodities, call or stop by for information and application.
