Coffee with GROW! series launches with potato, onion workshop

A new community learning opportunity is brewing in Boundary County as GROW! introduces its first Coffee with GROW! session later this month.
The informal, interactive class will feature Mike Hubbard of Hubbard Ag Science, who will share practical guidance on growing potatoes and onions in North Idaho. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Senior Hospitality Center, 6635 Lincoln St., with attendees entering on Stephens Street. Coffee and treats will be provided, and a $5 donation is appreciated.
GROW!, a Boundary County nonprofit focused on local food education and sustainable growing practices, is expanding its monthly programming with the new coffee series. Organizers say the additional gathering is designed to provide a more casual setting for community members to learn and ask questions about a variety of homesteading and gardening topics.
The Coffee with GROW! sessions will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month from January through April, complementing the organization’s existing “potluck and learn” classes. Those sessions take place on the second Saturday of each month at noon during the same January to April timeframe and cover a range of seasonal topics.
Hubbard’s presentation will focus specifically on challenges and solutions for raising potatoes and onions in North Idaho’s unique growing conditions.
Organizers encourage gardeners of all experience levels to attend.
