The Coeur d’Alene Design Review Commission will consider approving the design of a five-story, 173-room, 98,981-square-foot Hilton Dual Brand Hotel during its meeting today.

The site is located at the bend of Lee Court and Appleway Avenue and is a short distance from Interstate 90 and Kootenai Health.

The Wealth Hospital Group in Coeur d’Alene owns the 2.71 acres of vacant land on which the $18.5 million hotel would be built. Richardson Design Partnership, LLC, based in Salt Lake City, is the project's architect.

“There will be two hotels in one building,” said Tami Stroud, associate planner with the DRC.

The average height of the structure is 66 feet. The north side of the building will have a large outdoor patio. A pool and fitness center will be on the south side. The hotel includes a meeting room and a dining area with large spans of storefront allowing natural light to fill the areas and will have 177 parking stalls.

If given the go-ahead, the hotel will be one of four under construction or in the planning stage, including Marriott hotels at Sixth and Sherman and Northwest Boulevard, and the 15-story, 139-room Hagadone Hospitality Co.’s Sherman Tower near The Coeur d'Alene Resort.

The DRC is scheduled to meet at noon at City Hall.
