Experience the global, genre-defying sounds of guitarist Ottmar Liebert and his band Luna Negra and the soulful, powerhouse performance of Devon Allman’s Blues Summit at the Wachholz College Center in March.
Renowned for his signature Nouveau Flamenco style, Liebert and Luna Negra bring a sound shaped by Spanish, Mexican and world music influences, marked by lyrical melodies and rhythmic intensity. A five-time Grammy nominee and one of the most successful instrumental artists of the past several decades, Liebert has released more than 30 albums and performed over 2,000 concerts worldwide. His groundbreaking album “Nouveau Flamenco” became the best-selling instrumental acoustic guitar album of all time, earning multi-platinum status internationally. Liebert’s live performances are immersive, cinematic and deeply expressive.
In a contrast of style and spirit, Allman’s Blues Summit is a gathering of blues legends that include Jimmy Hall, Larry McCray and vocalist Laka Soul, who deliver a high-energy celebration of classic and contemporary blues. Allman, the son of legendary Gregg Allman, grew up surrounded by the rich musical legacy of the Allman Brothers Band, a group that played a pivotal role in shaping the Southern rock and blues sound. A torchbearer of American roots music, Allman is known for his searing guitar work, soulful vocals and deep respect for blues traditions, infused with modern rock edge.
