Sacramento State shuts down Lady Griz

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Natalie Picton scored 24 points and Benthe Versteeg added 21 as Sacramento State rolled past Montana 75-57 in Big Sky Women’s basketball Thursday.
The Hornets starting five scored all 75 points in the victory.
Jocelyn Land led the Lady Griz with 21, while Avery Waddington added 12 points and six assists.
Trailing 61-53 entering the fourth quarter, Montana scored just four points — a Waddington free throw and a Land triple — as Sacramento State pulled away. Paired with a 23-12 deficit after one quarter that the Lady Griz couldn’t overcome despite outscoring the Hornets 41-38 in the middle frames.
The loss is Montana’s seventh straight and puts the Lady Griz 7-20 overall and 4-12 in the Big Sky. They now head to Portland to battle the last place Vikings Saturday at 3 p.m.
Sacramento State moves to 13-16 overall and 7-9 in conference.
