CDA police chief search narrows to four

The search to replace recently retired Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Lee White has narrowed to four candidates.

The finalists include chief of the El Monte Police Department Jake Fisher; Craig Meidl, former chief of the Spokane Police Department; Deputy Chief Greg Yeager with the Fort Collins Police Services; and interim Chief Dave Hagar with the Coeur d’Alene Police Department. 

The final selection process will consist of a series of panel interviews that include participants from partnering agencies, community leaders, city staff and elected officials. The in-person interviews are Thursday, March 12. The annual salary for the position ranges between $127,732 to $179,753. 

“Hiring the right police chief is one of the most significant decisions a city administrator can make. The chief sets the tone for accountability, integrity, and trust between members of the department, the rest of the city team, community partnerships, and the citizens,” said City Administrator Ron Jacobson. “The citizens of Coeur d’Alene deserve a chief who will uphold our city’s tradition of excellence while continuing to strengthen public trust and public safety.”
