Greenchain trio medals at state wrestling championships

The Libby Greenchain wrestling team returned from its marathon trip to Billings with three state medalists.
Juniors Boe Miles and Hunter Rooney and sophomore Levi Nick made the podium at MetraPark last weekend.
Miles claimed a fifth-place medal at 157 pounds after he decisioned Dillon’s Tucker Crowe with a takedown with 24 seconds left.
Miles finished 4-2 at state and 37-13 overall.
Rooney, who wrestled at 175 pounds, finished his junior year 28-14 after a 3-3 performance at state. He clinched a medal with an 8-1 win over Dawson County’s Caleb Phalen.
Sophomore Levi Nick, wrestling at 110 pounds, was 3-3 at state and 31-10 for the season after a sixth-place finish. He scored a technical fall, 15-0, in 4:07 over East Helena’s McCoy Hernandez, to ensure himself a medal.
One of Libby’s first female wrestlers, Meghan Connelley, wrestled at 155 pounds and finished 1-2.

Ian Thom, 190 pounds: 1-2
Jeremiah Thomas, 132 pounds: 1-2
Maddux Stow, 138 pounds: 0-2
Tristan DeShazer, 150 pounds: 2-2
Libby placed 12th as a team, out of 25, with 62 points. The top six teams in Class A were from the east. Sidney/Fairview was the team champion with 235 points. It crowned one champ, five runners-up and had 11 medal winners. Hardin was second with 232 points. It had five champs and nine medal winners.
