Well, March finds us Montana locals thinking more about the weather than the Roman Empire. And, one way or another, we're in for a wildcard of a March as we alternate between wishing for spring and praying for snow. As we know, we'll get what we get, but as far as how to fill your March dance card, we've got you covered.

The rainbow ends at the Northwest Montana Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 15 and Sunday March 16th for the Annual Gem and Mineral show hosted by the Northwest Montana Rock Chucks. This family friendly event is only $5 admission for the whole weekend and kidlets 12 and younger are free. Enjoy all the activities you've come to love at the 19th Annual Gold, Gem and Mineral Show. Plenty of vendors showcasing treasures of all kinds, live demos to get you into the rockhounding spirit. Door prizes, a silent auction and several raffles will help you get lucky. Check out the special Kids' Corner for plenty of hands-on activities. The Northwest Montana Rock Chucks put on a great event for all the gem curious and rockhounding enthusiasts. Enjoy this great indoor, family-friendly event that is sure to sparkle. 

Don your green and practice your Leprechaun kick and skip off to Columbia Falls for the 5th Annual Cloverfest on Saturday, March 15th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Find Cloverfest in a new location this year at the Columbia Falls Junior High School on Talbot Road. Thanks to the Columbia Falls Chamber of Commerce, you can enjoy this family-friendly and festive event. Kids 5 and under are free while others contribute $10 or $30 for a family of four or more for access to all Cloverfest has to offer. The Chamber will share their Pot of Gold with the Columbia Falls High School PTO. Enjoy The Great Clover Carnival where the school gym will be packed with St. Patrick's Day-themed games and activities. Or go for the pot of gold during the Olympic Games. Live Music and Irish Dancing will have you jigging with delight. And fill your bellies with goodies from local Food Trucks. Show off your early spring training or get started with the Cloverfest 5K and Fun Run for some exercise and your chance at medals and themed awards. Check out Kalispell's Main Street on March 17th at 4:00 pm for a St. Patrick's Day parade, bagpipes and all. The Flathead Celtic Festival along with the Kalispell Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians host the afternoon while all your favorite watering holes welcome you in for green beers afterwards. 

The Wachholz College Center welcomes The Devon Allman Project on Tuesday, March 3rd for a powerhouse gathering of blues legends that promises to electrify the stage. Devon, son of the legendary Gregg Allman, will take the helm of an all-star lineup of who's who in blues. Tickets only at WachholzCollegeCenter.org 

Spring is springing and the best place to prepare and get inspired for the upcoming growing season is the 11th Annual Free the Seeds event on Saturday, March 7th in the Arts and Technology Building at Flathead Valley College in Kalispell. From 9:00 am to 3:00 pm host nonprofit Land to Hand Montana will share knowledge, community and seeds for this year's theme Growing Together. This is a free, family-friendly event though donations are welcome. 

Celebrate International Women's Weekend with rock and roll March 7th and 8th at Whitefish's Second Story. Bold, electric and unforgettable, Women Who Rock is a celebration of iconic female artists and the power of women in music. Backed by an all-local powerhouse band local superstars Halladay Quist, Meredith Patterson and Kelley Sinclair belt out the ballads that get you dancing.

March's edition of the Wilderness Speaker Series takes place Tuesday March 10th at the Flathead Valley College Arts and Technology Building. This presentation explores the Three Forks of the Flathead River: Fish, Flow and the Future with Sheena Pate, of the Flathead Rivers Alliance, and Leo Rosenthal, of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. 

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation once again presents Mountainfilm on Tour in Whitefish on March12th and in Bigfork on April 3rd. This film series features outdoor films from around the world that explore the theme of creating a better world. 

Familiarize yourself with a new venue on Saturday, March 14th with Rhythm and Roots at the Star Meadows Ranch in Whitefish. A full day of live music, complete with a full bar, food trucks, kid-friendly activities, late night DJs and free shuttles to and from Whitefish. Find all your local favorites including Jake Simpson & Andy Dunnigan, Hotdayum, Christiane Hinterman, Kelly Diane, John Dunnigan and more. Check out Rising Appalachia at the Wachholz College Center on Sunday, March 15th for another great music opportunity. Atlanta-raised sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith blend Americana music with rhythm and poetry of our times. You'll be sure to hear a few songs from their new album of cover songs from a wide variety of artists like Bob Dylan, Beyonce, and Erykah Badu.
