Montana State women hold off N. Colorado comeback

GREELEY, Colo. — Isobel Bunyan scored 21 points and Montana State held off a fourth quarter charge from Northern Colorado to win 86-79 in Big Sky Conference women’s basketball Thursday. 


Taylee Chirrick added 15 points for the Bobcats (8-4 overall, 1-0 in Big Sky games); Addison Harris tallied 13. 


Heather Baymon led all scorers with 26 points for the Bears (9-5, 0-1). Neenah George added 19. 


Northern Colorado scored the first five points, but the Bobcats took over from there, outscoring the Bears 36-6 over the rest of the first quarter. 


Montana State kept their foot on the gas through the middle frames, taking a 69-50 lead into the fourth.  


Northern Colorado never quit though, opening the final quarter on an 11-2 run to cut the deficit to 71-61. 


George hit a triple with 1:25 left to make it 82-76, but Montana State had enough down the stretch to hold on for the win.
