"Idaho Reports" will begin a new season on a new night: Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.

While the program is switching showtimes starting Thursday, it’s staying true to its mission, Idaho Public Television said in a Wednesday news release.

As it enters its 54th season, "Idaho Reports" will continue to deliver in-depth panel discussions and interviews with policymakers and stakeholders on issues affecting Idahoans’ daily lives.

Host Melissa Davlin and producer Logan Finney bring policy analysis and legislative updates to viewers in every corner of the state, including how Medicaid cuts could affect health care services for all Idahoans, what’s next in education policy proposals and how lawmakers are navigating a multimillion-dollar budget shortfall.

"Idaho Reports" airs Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. and repeats Sundays at 10 a.m. on Idaho Public Television. The program can also be streamed any time at idahoreports.org, on YouTube and on the PBS app.

Support for "Idaho Reports" is provided by the Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, the Darrell Arthur Kammer Estate and the Hansberger Family Foundation.

Live coverage of Gov. Little and the Idaho Legislature

The 2026 Idaho Legislative Session begins with Gov. Brad Little’s State of the State and Budget Address at noon Jan. 12. The address airs live on Idaho Public Television and will replay that night at 8 p.m. Hear Little’s budget proposals and policy priorities, and following the speech, get immediate analysis from top political commentators joining that "Idaho Reports" team on-air. Catch more reactions from lawmakers and stakeholders on the Jan. 15 episode of "Idaho Reports."

"Idaho in Session" is IdahoPTV’s gavel-to-gavel service that includes live on-air and online coverage of the Idaho Legislature during the session. Meetings of the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee and all other committees will be available online at idahoptv.org/insession. Coverage of the House can be viewed live on-air on IdahoPTV’s CREATE channel and the Senate on IdahoPTV’s WORLD channel while the Idaho Legislature is in session.

Expanded national news coverage

PBS’s flagship nightly newscast "PBS News Hour" continues to air at 6 p.m. each weeknight on Idaho Public Television. Beginning Jan. 17 and 18, "PBS News" will expand coverage with two new weekend programs.

"Horizons From PBS News," on at 6 p.m. Saturdays beginning Jan. 17, will be hosted by William Brangham. It will cover science, health and technology. Each 30-minute episode will dive into a single issue, with upcoming topics including the artificial intelligence race, medical advancements and climate science.

"Compass Points from PBS News" will be at 6 p.m. Sundays beginning Jan. 18. This foreign affairs program will be hosted by Nick Schifrin. Each episode will cover an aspect of how the American government’s interests and power are shaping global affairs. The show will feature a panel of experts, such as journalists and former government officials.

Jeff Tucker, Idaho Public Television’s general manager, expressed commitment to local and national news coverage despite recent funding cuts.

“While the elimination of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting will force changes across the public media system for some time, Idaho Public Television remains committed to bringing viewers essential news and public affairs programming in the years to come,” Tucker said in the news release. “These two new programs from PBS, along with continued local coverage from 'Idaho Reports' and 'Idaho in Session,' reflect that commitment.”
