Shoshone County Sheriff's Office swears in new undersheriff

Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office appointed Travis Skinner as its new undersheriff. 

Sheriff William Eddy expedited the official swearing-in of Skinner on Monday in light of the recent events at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office.     

“I needed to get him in there with me,” Eddy said.   

Skinner has lived in Mullan for five years. He hails from Salt Lake City.

With more than 20 years of experience in law enforcement, Skinner previously worked as a jail deputy, patrol officer, SWAT member, with the Canyon Patrol Search and Rescue and in prisoner transportation/extradition. 

As a sergeant with the Unified Police Department in Salt Lake City, Skinner supervised more than 70 members of the Canyon Patrol Search and Rescue Unit.  

Before becoming a police officer, Skinner worked in the security industry for seven years.  

Eddy selected Skinner for the position Dec. 19. His initial swearing-in was to take place Jan. 2.
