Bobcat men defeat N. Arizona after strong first half

BOZEMAN — Jed Miller scored 22 points and made five 3-pointers to lead Montana State over Northern Arizona 77-68 in Big Sky Conference men’s basketball on Saturday evening at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
Bobcats (8-7 overall, 2-0 in Big Sky games) forward, Christian King added 18 points and nine rebounds. Patrick McMahon scored 11 and went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Seth Amunrud tallied nine with three triples.
Isaiah Shaw led the Lumberjacks (6-9, 0-2) with 18 points on 6-7 shooting. Kavon Bradford scored 11 of his 12 points in the first half. Chris Komin and Traivar Jackson added nine points apiece.
Montana State led at halftime 43-35. In the second half, the Bobcats outscored Northern Arizona 34-33.
The Lumberjacks outscored Montana State 38-29 in the paint. But the Bobcats made 12 threes compared to Northern Arizona’s five.
Conference play resumes for the Bobcats in Cheney, Washington on Jan. 8 against Eastern Washington at 7 p.m.
